Cervical Cancer Camp
May 31, 2023
Setting up a cervical cancer camp in a village in India holds immense importance to me for several reasons. Firstly, cervical cancer remains a significant health concern, particularly in resource-limited settings, where access to preventive healthcare and screenings is often limited. By helping PHRII establish a camp, we can bridge this gap and provide vital healthcare services to the women of the village, offering early detection and treatment options. By organizing and participating in such a camp, I can directly contribute to raising awareness among the women in the village and providing them with access to crucial screenings. Witnessing the impact of preventive measures firsthand and being part of a team that actively works towards improving women's health is an invaluable experience. Additionally, getting to know the people of the village better and being welcomed in their village allowed me to be fully immersed in the vibrant Indian culture. Collaborating with the local community will enable me to understand better global health issues, cultural sensitivity, and community engagement. This firsthand exposure equips me with essential skills and knowledge I can take back home and apply to address healthcare disparities in my community. By embracing this opportunity, I am expanding my horizons and nurturing a sense of global citizenship and social responsibility that will shape my future endeavors.
